Disasters in Recent years

 Disasters in recent years had been so damaging to the mankind and kept everyone at the edge of their seats, waiting for what is to come next.


1)COVID 19(2019-2021)



It was first originated from a place called Wuhan, China. The first case was detected in December 2019.At the early stage no one thought that it was that deadly which it appeared later and would become one of the most deadliest virus taking millions of life all over the globe. China recorded the first death on 11th January 2020 and subsequently two months later, WHO declared the virus to be a world-wide pandemic on 11th March. The virus spread so rapidly that even the hospital beds, oxygen cylinders were not sufficient. In order to avoid the spread of the virus almost every country was under Quarantine for several Months.

Variants of Covid 19

1)Alpha B.1.1.7:  It was first identifies in United Kingdom. It spreaded much faster than other variants. Potentially caused more sickness and death.

2)Beta B.1.315:  It was first identifies in South Africa. It spreaded much faster than other variants. It was not that dangerous .

3)Gamma P.1 : It was first identifies in Brazil and Japan. It spreaded much faster than other variants. It do not  a cause severe illness and death comparatively.

4)Delta B.1.617.2 :It was first identifies in India. It spreaded much faster than other variants. It caused severe illness and death rate were also very high.











 


 2)  Cyclone Amphan




Cyclone is a storm or system of winds that rotates about a center of low atmospheric pressure and that moves forward at a speed of 20 to 30 miles (30 to 50 kilometers) an hour and often brings heavy rain. In recent years there were many cyclone disasters .

It is the deadliest and costliest storm recorded in the Bay Of Bengal, Cyclone Amphan was also the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Ganges Delta since Sidr of the 2007 season. There were more than 128 deaths and a great damage to the area due to its strong wind speed.


As per the AON report it was one of the costliest,$15 billion economic loss estimated . Amphan is also the costliest cyclone ever recorded in the North Indian Ocean, surpassing the record held by Cyclone Nargis of 2008.



 3)Volcanic eruption





Volcanic eruption had many impacts in various fields :

a)Casualties

A total of 39 people lost their life in the volcanic eruption Taal. According to the Manila Bulletin people either perished because they refused to follow evacuations order or decided to return to their homes, or died in the evacuation centers by heart attack due to the anxiety. 

b)Economic 

Demand for N95 masks increased rapidly during the eruption .The deparment of Agriculture reported that there was a huge impact on crops due to the eruption and estimated a 2345  hectares of land been damaged due to the acid rain after the eruption.

c)Health

More than 2 million people suffered from many breathing problem diseases and many had lost their life due to heart attack.The deparment of health advised people to remain indoor and avoid outdoor activites.They also ordered not to buy fishes form the Taal lake because the lake was polluted with many chemicals.
